About

Bev Clark is a writer, director as well as a drama facilitator and adjudicator.  She has worked in the creative industries for over 40 years. As a youth director in theatres in Bristol, Essex and the Northwest. Also in theatre administration and project leadership. In 2011 she was received by her Majesty the Queen for her work with young people in the Arts.

As an adjudicator she had worked across England and Wales since 2011 and in 2016 she adjudicated an international festival in Belgium. 

As a writer, Bev has mostly one-act plays available at www.stagescripts.com but also undertakes commissions especially for schools, youth theatres and community groups.

As a facilitator she has run many workshops, including a devised theatre course for NODA at Warwick university Summer school and a new piece of work Invisible Chains as part of Theatrefest15 on the Isle of Man which examined Modern day slavery.

Bev was trained in Guildhall of Speech and Drama and LAMDA and holds a level 3 in Creative Entrepreneur Diploma and has accredited scriptwriting and creative writing courses. She is a published poet and has won or been placed a few competitions. (see poetry)

From 2008-2018 she was Artistic Director of award-winning community theatre – Hand in Hand Theatre Productions. Among many highlights they were part of RSC Open stages 2012, 2015, and 2016 and performed at Stratford upon Avon and Contact Theatre Manchester.

From Hand in Hand Theatre,  a small studio company was formed Bus Stop Productions which performed in small venues and festivals from 2018 – present ( with a two year gap during Covid)

2015 The Black Eyes won the Roister Doister playwrighting for a play for young people. Pub.2016 and subsequently performed by youth groups in Birmingham and across Ireland as part of youth theatre of ireland recommended playlist.  (re pub SS 2019)  

2015 Invisible Chains – created and directed for Theatrefest 15 with NODA  Isle of Man 

2016 RIP Mr. Shakespeare  co-written with Keith hill for HIH performed all over UK as part of RSC open stages and All England theatre Festival and National drama festival. Multi-award winning and received Liverpool Echo Ambassador of Arts award.  5 star reviews. Published and subsequently performed by youth groups in Isle of Man, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Essex. 

2017 The Woman’s Voice HIH Ladies in Bonnets  adapted from the Jane Austen and Baggage toured Wirral libraries and small venues  and after Liverpool, Widnes and Royal Court studio as part of Liverpool Irish festival  5-star reviews.   pub  SS 2017

BAGGAGE has now been performed in Manchester, Oxford, Scotland by various groups 2017-2019. it went to Welwyn drama festival Hertfordshire and won best actress for the part of Annie. 

2019 Before the sun goes Dark. Bus Stop. One act drama. Winner of best play/ best director at Cheshire drama festival Nantwich

2023 Ariel’s Flight a short two hander. Won best original script at Cheshire drama festival Storyhouse.

2023 The Waiting a drama for 4 women  Won Leverhulme festival and best script and best actress and went to the northern semi finals of AETF were it was runner up and won best staging.
